Impact Laboratory

A research center specialized in biomechanics and road safety

It is linked to the University of Zaragoza, through the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research (I3A) and the Gobierno de Aragón.

The Impact Laboratory began its activity in 2015. Since 2018 it is a laboratory accredited by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) for the homologation of helmets and barriers according to the procedures of the program FIM Racing Homologation Programme

The laboratory develops its activity in two fields:

Impact tests

A wide variety of impact tests are conducted: helmets, racing track side barriers, child restraint systems (CRS), safety belts, wheelchairs, shopping carts, material characterization by tensile test, UV and salt fog aging, etc.

The Impact Laboratory performs many types of research tests and projects in the field of Human Biomechanics of Impact, including the potential use of PMHS.
